Nerf Maverick Repaint & Mod
Last year when I was first getting into painting toys, I came across a message board devoted to nothing but painting and modifying Nerf dart guns. Some of the work I saw was pretty meh, but some of it was so amazing that I just had to throw my hat in the ring, and take a stab at my own repaint.
So I got ahold of a Nerf Maverick, took it apart and modified it using instructions similar to these, and then set about repainting the guy.
Pretty simple recolor with some weathering. Had to use the dremel to enact the modifications on the internal workings, as well as for sanding off the NERF and MAVERICK embossed logos. Base coat consisted of flat black spraypaint, then several airbrushed coats of a custom light purple/metallic gun metal color, and then went into detailed brushwork work with a variety of custom acrylic colors using a combo of Deco Art and Folk Art brand paints (which you can find at most hobby stores), and then sealed with a 30/70 mix of Testors Flat acryl/Future Floor Finish. Whew!
